CHAPTER 1: Introduction

1. "Thoughts Are Things" = "Thoughts Become Things"
2. MEN REALLY DO THINK & GROW RICH
3. Barnes (Edison's future partner) didn't have enough money.
4. Barnes was DETERMINED to get what he wanted. (Partnership w/ Edison)
5. When a man really DESIRES a thing so deeply that he is willing to stake his entire future on a single turn of the wheel in order to get it, he is sure to win.
6. It was what he (Barnes) thought that counted.
7. Nothing happened to bring the coveted goal Barnes had set up in his mind.
8. Barnes was CONSTANTLY INTENSIFYING HIS DESIRE
(For Years!) before it became a reality.
9. Psychologists have said "When one is truly ready for a thing,
it puts in its appearance."
10. Accept a definite purpose, & stand by it until
it becomes an ALL-CONSUMING POSSESSION!
11. The opportunity came, it appeared in
a different form than Barnes had expected.
12. Often success comes disguised in the form of MISFORTUNE,
or TEMPORARY DEFEAT. This is why so many people fail to recognize opportunity.
13. Barnes, made himself RICH IN MONEY because of his MINDSET.
14. An intangible impulse of thought can be transmuted into its physical counterpart.
15. Barnes THOUGHT HIMSELF INTO A PARTNERSHIP.
16. BARNES THOUGHT HIMSELF INTO A FORTUNE.
17. Barnes had nothing to start with (like you), But he KNEW WHAT HE WANTED,
& had the DETERMINATION TO STAND BY THAT DESIRE UNTIL HE REALIZED IT.
18. BARNES HAD NO MONEY & little education, NO INFLUENCE,
But he did have INITIATIVE, FAITH, & The DESIRE to win.
19. Most common causes of FAILURE is the HABIT OF QUITTING
when being overtaken by TEMPORARY DEFEAT.
20. Seek EXPERT COUNSEL before GIVING UP.
21. R.U. Darby lost a huge fortune, because he stopped 3 feet from gold.
22. Before success comes to any man, he is sure to meet with a lot of
temporary defeat, & some failures. When DEFEAT overtakes a man,
the easiest thing to do is QUIT which is what the MAJORITY of PEOPLE DO.
23. FAILURE IS A TRICKSTER. It takes great delight in tripping up someone
when success is almost within reach.
24. "NO" does not necessarily mean no!

26. The ANSWER you may be seeking may be FOUND IN YOUR OWN MIND,
through some IDEA, PLAN, or PURPOSE.
27. When riches begin to come, they come so quickly,
one wonders where they have been hiding during all those lean years.
28. RICHES BEGIN WITH A STATE OF MIND,
With definiteness of purpose, WITH LITTLE OR NO HARD WORK.
29. Learn the art of changing your minds from
FAILURE CONSCIOUSNESS to SUCCESS CONSCIOUSNESS.
30. THOUGHT HABITS have been steeped in POVERTY,
WANT, MISERY, FAILURE, & DEFEAT.
31. These unfortunate people have created it all with their minds.

38. We must MAGNETIZE our minds with INTENSE DESIRE FOR RICHES,
That we must BECOME "MONEY CONSCIOUS" until the DESIRE FOR MONEY
Drives us to CREATE DEFINITE PLANS for acquiring it.
39. Maintain a spirit of OPEN-MINDEDNESS.
40. FACT: 500 men accumulated riches in HUGE AMOUNTS,
Men who BEGAN IN POVERTY, with little education, without influence.
41. HENRY FORD, with but LITTLE SCHOOLING, WITHOUT A DOLLAR,
With NO INFLUENTIAL FRIENDS, Rose to great heights. I made up my mind then,
I would make a place for myself, NO MATTER HOW MANY DIFFICULTIES
I HAD TO SURMOUNT.
